Weekend heat to blast the Southwest U.S. (and Alaska)

The fourth named storm of the Pacific hurricane season is also imminent.

If you were keeping track at home like I was … D.C. finally hit 90 yesterday. 92, in fact. It came almost a month late and a few days early to make our authoritarian overlord all hot and sweaty. We’ll be crossing our fingers for Saturday evening storms and watching a few other places across the country.

Weather Watch

Scorching weekend. The Desert Southwest is looking at a hide-from-the-sun kind of weekend as temperatures are set to rise to 110 or 115 for Phoenix, Las Vegas and surrounding spots, where extreme heat warnings are in effect. Our favorite hot spot — the lovely Death Valley — is forecast to reach 122 on Sunday.

Hey there Dalila. The fourth named storm of the season for the eastern Pacific Ocean is imminent. Dalila is expected to be classified today and up to 4-6 inches of rain are forecast along the coast of Mexico. It should stay offshore but could deliver a period of tropical storm conditions, nonetheless.
