Southern heat. It’ll be feeling more like summer in parts of the South ahead, especially in southern Texas. Record highs of 90 or greater are possible around the Lower Mississippi Valley on Thursday and Friday. Heat focus will shift west to Texas and hang out there for a while thereafter. Highs could eventually be around 100 along parts of the Rio Grande.
