Phoenix all hot and bothered, even for July
Tonight: Look up (not down) at the thunder/buck full moon.
The pattern remains rather stagnant over North America, which is fairly standard summer. But in our age of extremes, even the less active times are often notable. More storms in the eastern U.S. today — probably not as intense as yesterday in my backyard, for those tracking at home.
Weather Watch
Brutal heat. Following a high of 118 on Wednesday, a record for the date, temperatures remained at or above 102 in Phoenix until 2 a.m. this morning. The low there Thursday could end up among its hottest on record. In 2024, a minimum of 95 tied for the third toastiest morning while 2023 had a low of 97 which was the hottest ever observed for the city.
