November "heat wave" across the Southern United States this week

Parts of Europe are in clean up mode after Claudia.

Following a quick-hitting cold snap last week, much of the South and Southeast are poised to see several days of record warmth this week. Over in Europe, cleanup continues in the aftermath of a major storm named Claudia. Additional rain is headed to waterlogged California, as well.

Weather Watch

Record warmth across South. With readings 10 to 30 degrees above normal, dozens of record highs and warm lows are in the forecast from the Southern Plains to the Southeast this week as high pressure dominates those regions. In Texas and the Mid-South, temperatures will rise to the 80s with even some 90s near the Mexico border.

Storm Claudia. Friday into the weekend, storm Claudia hit Europe. It caused extensive flooding in parts of the United Kingdom. As its impacts swept through the Iberian Peninsula, a deadly tornado struck a campground in Portugal. Wales was particularly hard hit with severe flooding, including the town of Monmouth which witnessed the worst of such conditions in decades. The storm is being followed up by the coldest air of winter so far with warnings for snow and ice focused on Scotland.
