Another day of brutal heat in the Mid-Atlantic
The Atlantic Ocean is also now on the books for the 2025 season.
Tuesday was a day that will live in weather infamy for Southern New England and parts of the Interstate 95 corridor — at least until 100s become more commonplace in the future. A cold front is putting an end to the worst in the north but it’s another scorcher on Wednesday further south.
Weather Watch
More extreme heat. Another day of punishment is on tap for the Ohio Valley to Mid-Atlantic. The worst of the heat is getting squashed south, and the intensity is beginning to wane, but a number of places will still run at 100 with heat indexes near 110 this afternoon.

Heat dome demolishes records
Seven Northeast U.S. states witnessed June temperature records on Tuesday as 100-degree-plus highs rushed the region. They are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maryland.

A sampling of the highest temperatures includes:
Downtown Baltimore: 105 (hottest in June; tends to run hot)
Newark: 103 (hottest in June; lotsa pavement)
Boston: 102 (hottest in June, 2 off all-time record; oof)
Atlantic City: 102 (record for the date)
Philadelphia: 101 (record for the date)
Providence: 100 (hottest in June)
New York City: 99 (Central Park; JFK reached June record of 102)
D.C.: 99 (one shy of record for date, second day in a row)
Some locations in the Mid-Atlantic will see highs about as hot on Wednesday.
