It's getting hot in here.
It’s feeling like summer is taking hold, following a weekend of severe weather that included a convective complex producing mega wind gusts along its path on Sunday. As we kick off the work week, eyes are on heat and the tropics.
Weather Watch
Pacific storms. A pair of tropical cyclones are wandering the eastern Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico. Barbara is on the cusp of becoming the first hurricane of the season for the basin, while Cosme to its west is not doing a whole lot.

Monday morning weather map
The average daily high in the United States is about 113 and rising. Over the weekend, temperatures surged to at least 116 in Death Valley, which is the second hottest of the year there. It’s also been very hot in Mexico.

Many records are expected today in the Pacific Northwest and further south on Tuesday. With time, heat will overtake the eastern U.S. and give a go at the hottest readings so far in numerous spots there.

High temperatures the next week. Blue contour is 90 or higher.
